As you know, my 6th crime fiction novel, Doubleback, will be released in October by Bleak House Books. Doubleback pairs both my series protagonists, Georgia Davis and Ellie Foreman, in a thriller that begins in Chicago, sweeps through Wisconsin, and ends on the Arizona/Mexico border.

Also in October, Poisoned Pen will re-release my 3rd novel, An Image of Death, in trade paperback. That book also features both women. Publishers Weekly called An Image of Death "a powerful tale."

So to "celebrate" the dual releases, I've written an original short story, The Murder of Katie Boyle, that explains how the two women first met.

I have produced a numbered, limited edition chapbook that you can get—free—if you buy both books at an independent bookstore. It's my way of saying thanks to Indie bookstores everywhere. By the way, the story will also be recorded and available for download on Sniplits.com.
